Promine AutoCAD Tip of the Week: Save and Insert Blocks

The BLOCK command allows to save a drawing as a block. First, type in “BLOCK”, insert a block name and click “Pick point” to choose the base point of the block. Then, click “Select objects” and select the drawing you want to save as a block. Once the configuration is done, click “OK”.

The INSERT command allows to import a block. To do so, type in the command “INSERT”. Then, select the option “Specify On-screen” and click “OK” to insert the block. To scale the block, there are two options. From the INSERT dialog box, select the option “Uniform Scale” and type in the scale factor in the X field. Furthermore, the second option is, form the INSERT dialog box, to select the option “Specify On-screen”. The latter allows you to insert the block and scale the block manually by dragging the mouse outward or inward.
